Online time management becomes a new vital skill to make or break in building internet marketing business. If you know the secrets, you can easily leash your working time by half and double your productivity at the SAME TIME.

You just have to start building a new set of rituals if you want to become a high performance online achiever. At first, you may look at them as some cliché. But those are the rituals practiced by many highly successful internet marketers.

They all know how much an hour of time worth to them. So they all spend their time very wisely. And because they know how to spend their time wisely, they can create more value in an hour than the rest of the crowd in a day or week. That is one of the prime reasons why they succeed.

Here are 5 simple rituals.

#1: Have a to-do list
Always have a to-do list ready BEFORE you engage any online activity. You must know what the priorities are for your day. Don’t let other people determine your priorities. Every internet marketers are doing whatever they can to grab your attention. Watch if your actions / activities are building your own business or others.

#2: Create a block of time
Schedule yourself a block of UNINTERRUPTED time say 45 minutes. Switch your mobile phone to silent mode. Hang off your phone. Close all email clients and browsers if you are not working on them. Stop all incoming online alerts. Close all online messengers. Use that block of time to totally work on your tasks without external interruption. You will be surprised how much you can get done in those 45 minutes.

#3: Have a clean focus
We all have the mind chatter. Once we sit by ourselves without external interruption, we soon have other ideas pop up within our head. We have things to worry about. We think of something to buy, someone to call, something to write in the blog post, and etc.

Put a notebook next to you or use other powerful free tools in our GTD method for online success series to brain dump all those ideas. Don’t let those thoughts get in your way to produce good work and build income. Make sure you are taking actions toward your goals.

#4: Use a timer
To have a clean focus and monitor that block of time, you can use a timer to keep track the progress. Use a low cost kitchen timer is already good enough. Set up 45 minutes for yourself. Start. Tell yourself you are going to focus 100% your energy to knock down your tasks.

Once the time is up, force yourself to stop. Don’t cheat. That creates a sense of urgency for yourself to complete your task in each block of time. Challenge yourself to increase your productivity and the business value you can create in each session over time.

#5: Take a stretch break

In the book The Power of Full Engagement, Tony Schwartz talks about the importance to renew our energy during the day. As we work intensively during the day, it is easy for us to worn out physically, mentally, and emotionally. Give yourself a 10 to 15 minutes stretch break after each block of working time.

You can use it to switch to something more enjoyable like checking emails, blogs, forum, listening to your favorite music, podcast, talking to your friends, eating a snack, and so on. The idea is to take your mind off and re-charge your battery.
