I have seen MANY product launches about SEO in 2010.
I mean MANY….
They are ranged from low cost ebook to thousands of dollar in coaching program.
It seems so many people want to get a great piece in the SEO game…including both the customers and the marketers.
(you know what I mean by peeking at the traffic volume of the term ‘marketing search engine’ at Google Keyword Tool – 673,000 Global Monthly Searches)
When I start doing SEO, I had the urge to catch up with the competition and pour out my money to buy those LATEST products.
But after catching the waves for a long period of time, there are some Free SEO tools I keep use them again and again to build the SEO fundamentals(which are keyword phrase targeting and backlinks building).
Killer SEO Tools in 2010:

#1 – Google Keyword Tool
This is the foremost and powerful keyword research tools because Google is the highest traffic search engine today. When people do SEO, to rank at Google becomes the first choice over other search engines. Those days when Yahoo is the synmos of search engine is long gone.
I use it to build my master keyword list and store it in an excel file. I like Google Keyword Tool because the search result comes with 3 important data: competition index, average CPC cost, and the traffic volume
The competition index is a very good reference to identify low hanging fruits (those with less than value 1).
Avearge CPC cost tell me if people are biding the keyword phrase. The rationale is the more profitable the keyword phrase is the higher the bidding price.
The traffic volume is so important. It is because it is the indicator of the expected traffic we can get even though it is not 100% accurate. No doubt the highest volume keyword phrases would get marketers’ attention to rank for.
But they are also most competitive. To start gaining results in SEO, we would tactfully aim at those lower traffic volume even mean we have to aim at those with less than 1,000 monthly searches.

#2 – Google Wonder Wheel
It is located at the left hand-side of Google search page. This keyword tool can expand the targeted keyword phrase semantically into many more longtail phrases. I use those longtail keyword phrases obtained from Google Wonder Wheel to recycle back to Google Keyword Tool and generate a bigger master keyword list.
#3 – SEMRush
Have you wonder how much traffic would a site attract? What keyword phrases are ranked at search engine for a particular site? I found SEMRush is the best tool to get those data. This tool is so valuable that we could have to pay for the result. So far it is still a Free SRO tool. (www.semrush.com)
#4 – SEO For Firefox / SeoQuake
When we want to find out the top 10 (or 100) rankings for a keyword phrase, we can quickly go to Google and pull out the results quickly. But why do those websites appear on first page? What are the SEO factors used to help them to reach the top?
To get those answers, we can use one of these Firefox addons to get the SEO elements on each site immediately. When checking the SEO factors, pay close attention to PageRank and the number of backlinks as they play the major roles in the SEO game.

#5 – Backlink Watch
If you are in the SEO game long enough, you have heard many marketers to address the importance of building backlinks. So far it is STILL the major part in the search engine algorithm to rank a site.
By using Backlink Watch which is now a Yahoo company, we can analysis the backlink foundation of each top 10 sites. Play close attention to WHERE those backlinks come from and the ANCHOR text in the backlink report. There are a lot of clues on how to follow their backlink strategy. (www.backlinkwatch.com/)
